PORT Adelaide veteran Kane Cornes will contest his charge of rough conduct against Hawthorn's Sam Mitchell at the AFL Tribunal on Tuesday night.

All other players charged by the Match Review Panel on Monday have accepted their sanctions.

Cornes' behind-play hit on Mitchell, which put the Hawks star briefly on the ground before he was able to get up and resume playing, was assessed by the MRP as intentional, low impact and body contact - enough for a two-week ban.

However, due to his six-year good record, the sanction was reduced to one week, and he will not risk extra time on the sidelines by taking his case to the Tribunal.

Seven players accepted sanctions, including Fremantle captain Matthew Pavlich and Sydney Swans small forward Ben McGlynn, who will both now miss the next three matches.

Hawthorn utility Shaun Burgoyne and West Coast veteran Andrew Embley will each miss two weeks, while Geelong star Steve Johnson is out of this week's clash with Adelaide.

Burgoyne's teammate Jordan Lewis has accepted a reprimand, and Darren Glass a $900 fine for making contact with an umpire.

Cornes' case will be heard at 5pm AEST.
