The Hawks are yet to see the exact terms of the Sydney Swans' offer to Franklin, however, Swans' CEO Andrew Ireland has confirmed publicly that Buddy's deal is for nine years.
There was some speculation that the Hawks might try to match the offer in an attempt to force a trade, but Wright all but quashed such talk when asked whether the club intended to go down that path.
"It would be doubtful but we would wait until we actually see the offer first," Wright said.
"We're disappointed he is gone – at this stage – we have not seen any free agent offers come in yet and we will deal with that when they do."
Hawthorn has been anticipating life post-Buddy for most of the season and Wright made it clear there were no hard feelings towards Franklin.
"Lance has been a fantastic contributor to our footy club for nine years. He has really helped put the football club back on the map along with a lot of other players, but he was a massive contributor to our footy club," Wright said.
Hawthorn has 72 hours to match the Sydney Swans offer once it is lodged with the AFL.
Wright confirmed that midfielder Shane Savage is keen to seek opportunities during trade period, however the club would be quite happy to retain the contracted 22-year-old if a suitable exchange was not possible.
He did not rule out the club looking at delisted Geelong premiership players James Podsiadly and Paul Chapman, but indicated that most options were open entering the Gillette AFL Trade Period.
