COLLINGWOOD father-son draftee Callum Brown is in strong consideration to make his debut against Melbourne at the MCG on Queen's Birthday.  

The injuries to Jamie Elliott (ankle) and Daniel Wells (calf) have opened the door for the son of premiership player Gavin to become the Magpies' first debutant – disregarding recruits from opposition clubs – of the season.  

Elliott, Wells and Tyson Goldsack (shoulder) are all expected to undergo scans on Tuesday, but all three seem unlikely to play in the game against the Demons.  

Brown, pick No.35 in last year's NAB AFL Draft, travelled with the team to Perth as an emergency for the Magpies' gutsy 20-point win over Fremantle.  

The 19-year-old has come into contention based on impressive form in the VFL, averaging 28.5 disposals over the past month.  

Asked about Brown and fellow father-son recruit Josh Daicos' progress last week, Collingwood coach Nathan Buckley said both players were getting closer to senior selection.  

"Callum's form through mid and high forward has been really strong," Buckley said.  

"There'll be opportunities for those guys. It could come sooner rather than later. In the meantime we're really throwing a lot of development into them and giving them every opportunity to become long-term AFL footballers."  

Brown has played six matches for Collingwood's VFL side after being floored by glandular fever in January.

The 178cm midfielder is a strong competitor and displays good composure in traffic. Brown was named an U18 All Australian after averaging 19 disposals in four games for Vic Metro last season.  

Important forward Alex Fasolo is also a chance to return to the team should he be deemed ready to do so, after missing the game against the Dockers for mental health reasons.  

Fasolo and the Magpies announced late last week he was taking a short break from the game to manage his health after a battle with depression, but the forward is continuing to train with teammates during this time.  

James Aish, after returning from a fractured cheekbone, and defender Tom Langdon are also in the mix to earn a recall for the Pies.

Chris Mayne and Henry Schade are the other players who will also be discussed at match committee this week after solid games in the VFL against Sandringham on Sunday.
