GREATER Western Sydney star Toby Greene remains in doubt for Saturday's clash with the Swans, despite running strongly on Wednesday.  

Greene was a late withdrawal from the Giants' round two win over Collingwood with hamstring tightness and failed to take part in the week's main session at the WestConnex Centre.  

The 24-year-old instead completed some rehab running with the rest of the Giant's injured players.  

GWS coach Leon Cameron was hopeful the 2016 club champion would be fit to play in the Sydney derby at the SCG on Saturday night but, after an interrupted summer due to a broken toe, Greene's preparation hasn't been ideal and his chances of being selected appear slim.  

The gun forward is a crucial part of Cameron's side so could be given until later in the week to prove his fitness, but with such a query over his hamstring, it seems a massive risk to play him.  

The Giants already need to find replacements for injured pair Tom Scully (ankle) and Zac Langdon (hand). Jacob Hopper, Harry Perryman, Aiden Bonar and Nick Shipley are the candidates to come in.  

Hopper has played two practice games in the NEAFL after recovering from groin soreness and looks certain to face the Swans, while Perryman (back) was a standout in defence last week when playing his first match since the JLT Community Series.

Bonar, the Giants' first pick at last year's NAB AFL Draft, battled a couple of niggles over the pre-season so he may need more match fitness before making his debut in the AFL, but fellow draftee Shipley has been impressive and played both JLT games, mainly on a wing.

Veteran Ryan Griffen made a successful return to the field and played a half against the Swans' reserves, but he will need at least another match or two at the lower level to work his way back from an ankle problem.
