Cripps will be tested this week, as will key defender Sam Rowe, who was concussed after a strike from Jesse Hogan. Jed Lamb had scans on his knee last week and will miss two weeks. Daniel Gorringe injured his Achilles in the JLT Community Series and has not progressed as well as the Blues had hoped. Elliott hopes to be passed fit for the Pies' clash with Sydney at the SCG on Friday night, while Greenwood could also be available after making a rapid recovery from hip surgery. De Goey will still be sidelined for an extended period with a broken knuckle and a club-imposed three-match suspension for initially lying about how he sustained the injury. Ex-Roo Wells is closing in on a long-awaited debut for the Pies and could be ready for round four. Wills and Brown have recovered and could be available to play in the VFL. Mason Cox copped a knock to the knee late in a VFL practice match but played out the game. - Ben Collins

Early prognosis
Essendon has added midfielder Ben Howlett to its injury list, although the hamstring strain he suffered in his return game against the Brisbane Lions last week was relatively minor as by Tuesday he was back running laps at the club. That aside, the Bombers remain in a good position with the health of their list. Ruck pair Matthew Leuenberger (hamstring) and Tom Bellchambers (knee) are available after recovering from their injuries, giving the Bombers close to a full side to select from. - Callum Twomey

Mzungu has commenced his long road back, but former Fremantle teammate Matt de Boer has been running strongly and should be back in the next fortnight. Coniglio could be fit to take on the Western Bulldogs in round six is his rehab goes well, while a return date for Deledio remains a mystery. - Adam Curley

Early prognosis
Suspensions to Hogan and Lewis hurt immensely, but importantly for Melbourne it looks like getting a few players back from injury. Hibberd is tracking along nicely and could be ready to play next week, although he may need a game or two in the VFL for conditioning purposes. Hibberd played just one JLT Community Series game and missed the entire 2016 season due to a WADA-imposed suspension. Josh Wagner and Sam Frost played a half in the VFL at the weekend as they returned from a leg and toe injury respectively. - Ben Guthrie

Dustin Martin will play with a minor undisplaced fracture to his right cheekbone, wearing a helmet if necessary. He trained on Thursday but avoided contact work earlier in the week. Chol was back in full training this week after suffering concussion in a VFL practice game. Edwards has joined the rehab group after injuring his hip late in last Thursday's win against Collingwood. Hampson stepped up his training this week, joining the main group for the opening parts of Thursday's session. Heeney and McVeigh are running well at training, but they're looking at a round five comeback at the earliest. Rampe has his left arm in a sling for at least the next two weeks before he can start mobility and strength work, and looks set to miss almost two months of footy, while Papley and Rohan are back to full training and should be available to play at some level in the next 2-3 weeks. - Adam Curley

Eric Mackenzie was still on light duties at Monday training after being rested for round two due to knee and toe soreness, but he and Lewis Jetta – who played for East Perth after a glute scare – will be available this week. Scott Lycett is due to resume running shortly after undergoing surgery on his dislocated shoulder. The ruckman is about two months away for returning, as is goalsneak Willie Rioli, whose recovery timeframe has been pushed out slightly to six-to-eight weeks after hamstring tendon surgery. - Travis King

The Dogs escaped the thrilling win over Sydney unscathed, but they won't be welcoming back any injured stars in the near future. Tory Dickson and Mitch Wallis are at least a month away as they'll both need a few games in the VFL to gain match fitness. Jordan Roughead's return from a serious hamstring complaint has been slow and steady. First-year ruckman Tim English and key defender Kieran Collins are both expected to play in Footscray's VFL season opener on April 14. - Ryan Davidson
