GREATER Western Sydney has moved quickly to extend the contract of No.4 draft pick Jarrod Pickett, adding another year to the West Australian's deal before he has made his AFL debut.
AFL.com.au understands Pickett, who was the club's first selection at last year's NAB AFL Draft, will be tied to the Giants until at least the end of the 2017 season after deciding to lengthen his deal.
The third season on his contract was added to the standard two-year deal signed by all players picked at the national draft.

Pickett is yet to play his first game for the club, but is inching closer after being named as an emergency last week in the Giants' heavy loss to West Coast.
The 18-year-old had played three games at NEAFL level before that, including a two-goal haul in the Giants' Anzac Day win over Eastlake.
The Indigenous youngster, whose family bloodlines include links to former AFL players Nicky Winmar, Byron Pickett, Leon Davis, Derek Kickett and Clayton Collard, was viewed as one of the most talented players in last year's draft pool.
Coach Leon Cameron said during the pre-season that Pickett's speed, skill and aerial exploits had begun to shine at training with some eye-catching moments.
"He's going to take another couple of years in terms of building his motor to adapt to AFL footy, but it takes a while for these kids to say 'Well, I better not show what I can do yet because I haven’t earned the respect from the lads'," Cameron said.
"You can clearly just see him saying 'Hey boys, this is what I can do'."
The contract status of several more experienced Giants continues to be the topic of much discussion in the football industry, with midfielders Adam Treloar, Dylan Shiel, Will Hoskin-Elliott and Stephen Coniglio holding off on negotiations.
