After 10 years as naming rights sponsor of Skilled Stadium, Skilled Group has decided to relinquish these rights as of October 31, 2011.
Skilled Group aims to continue on as a sponsor of the Club, as they were prior to taking over the naming rights.
Skilled Group CEO, Mick McMahon said that the 10 year sponsorship was beneficial to the company from various aspects. He thanked the management and staff of the Geelong Football Club for their professionalism and commitment during this time.
“Our sponsorship has coincided with a very successful period for Geelong Football Club, playing in three consecutive grand finals from 2007 to 2009. “We wish the Geelong Football Club and the future naming rights sponsor every success in the future,” he said.
Geelong Cats Chief Executive, Brian Cook, said the naming rights offered the opportunity for a brand to align themselves with both a successful AFL Club and the Geelong community.
“Skilled Stadium has become synonymous with the city of Geelong. We were fortunate to have such a highly regarded organisation as Skilled Group as the naming rights sponsor for the past 10 seasons and look to align with a similarly reputable brand from next season onwards,” Cook said.
“The opportunity offered includes significant brand exposure not only in Geelong and Victoria but also nationally. For Skilled, the three consecutive grand finals from 2007-2009 meant the media exposure for them far outweighed their sponsorship investment.”
“Skilled Stadium is considered one of the premier regional stadiums in Australia and, with the upcoming stage 3 development, it offers an exciting time for a potential naming rights sponsor to come on board.”
