The skipper did not compete in the Pies' main training session after being forced from the training track after the warm-up.
Pies football manager Geoff Walsh confirmed the 27-year-old was restricted by general soreness through the legs but said they were hopeful he would be fit to face the Cats.
"We'll see how he comes up. We were hoping he'd do more [yesterday], but he didn't," Walsh told The Age.
"He had that whack against West Coast to the kidneys and ribs and in hindsight that's taken a bit more out of him than we originally thought.
"It's a case of not wanting to push him too hard, but needing to see a bit more at training. We're hoping he can do a bit more and be available for selection."
Further compounding the Pies' injury concerns is the doubt surrounding backmen Chris Tarrant and Ben Johnson.
Tarrant was a late withdrawal before the Pies' round-six clash against the Western Bulldogs with general soreness while Johnson was subbed from the same match with back spasms.
Collingwood are again expected to be without the services of ruckman Darren Jolly who is battling a knee complaint.
