WESTERN Bulldogs ruckman Jordan Roughead will consult a specialist in Melbourne on Sunday as he fights to overcome an eye injury ahead of the Grand Final.
Roughead left the Dogs' pulsating preliminary final win over Greater Western Sydney in the second quarter and did not return after he was hit in the right eye by the ball.
However, the Bulldogs are confident Roughead and Matt Suckling, who missed the GWS clash with an Achilles injury, will be fit to face Sydney in Saturday's premiership decider.
"That’s one of the best falcons I've ever had," Roughead said when the Bulldogs returned to Melbourne Airport on Saturday night.
"I'll be right. Everyone will get up for the Grand Final."
Bulldogs midfielder Jack Macrae said on Sunday, "He's going to see a specialist and hopefully he'll get that all ticked off.
"It's just a wait-and-see game ... (but) it's just his eye – I don't think he was concussed.
"I think they didn't want to risk (further damage) – when it's your eyes that's your life – you don't want to be going blind over footy."
Roughead's injury was one of the few negatives to come out of the Dogs' stirring win that put them into their first grand final since 1961.
