Dangerfield injured his ankle against the Sydney Swans in round three and aggravated it in the Crows' three-point loss to Melbourne last Saturday night.
Given Adelaide has its bye this weekend, the 23-year-old said it made sense to do everything possible to ensure he could play against the Magpies.
With the Crows limping into their week off at 3-4, a win next Thursday night is crucial if they're to resurrect their season.
Dangerfield told radio station 5AA he would meet with the doctor on Saturday but he was confident he'd take his place in the side.
"I've been in [the moon boot] for a few days. It just takes the pressure off the ankle to give it a bit of a rest - the bye's come at a good time," Dangerfield said.
"I tweaked it a few weeks ago and then stepped on Jack Grimes' foot in the third quarter and it didn't get any better, unfortunately.
"We're lucky this week that I can just put it in the boot and hopefully it'll give me a bit of time to rest and then get ready to fire against Collingwood.
"If we were playing this week I would have been a bit worried but given we've got the extra break I'm very confident I'll be lacing up the boots with the boys [next] Thursday night."
