The AFL wishes to advise it formally notified all clubs today there would be no change to the bidding process for players nominated under the Father / Son and Player Academy Rules for this year's 2014 NAB AFL Draft.
AFL General Counsel Andrew Dillon said the AFL Commission had decided at its meeting in Melbourne yesterday that no change would be considered, due to the close proximity of this year’s nomination dates and bid meeting, to be held in early October.
The AFL had examined a number of other potential bid systems, designed to greater reflect the competition’s market value of a player in relation to his place in the draft, but any new system will not be considered for introduction before the 2015 year.
As a reminder to all media, the key dates in the nomination / bid process for the 2014 year are as follows:
Friday 3 October by 2pm – NAB AFL Father-Son Bidding Nominations; Academy Bidding Nominations lodged with AFL.
Monday 6 October 10am - Father/Son & Academy Players Bidding Meeting.
Ends.
