STAR West Coast forward Jack Darling is set to remain an Eagle for the rest of his career after inking a five-year contract extension.
As forecast by AFL.com.au last month, Darling was already signed until 2020 and has agreed to a fresh long-term deal, warding off reported interest from the Western Bulldogs.
With young talls Oscar Allen, Jake Waterman, Jarrod Brander and Bailey Williams emerging, Darling shapes as the leader of the Eagles' attack once dual Coleman medallist Josh Kennedy retires.
"I grew up supporting the Eagles, so to be here for my entire career is something I’ll look back on proudly," Darling said.
"I always thought I was going to be a one-club player. I’m just really excited that the club has backed me in like they have my whole career. I’m really excited for the future.
"The challenge for us in 2019 is to play consistently over four quarters, so we’ve just got to make sure we play a good, consistent four quarters and make sure we qualify for finals as quickly as we can."
Darling is on track to set a career-best goal tally this season, and sits fourth in the Coleman Medal race with 39 majors.
The West Perth product's previous best effort was 53 in his second year in 2012.
