TWO-TIME premiership ruckman Darren Jolly has met with Essendon on the eve of Wednesday's NAB AFL Rookie Draft.

On Tuesday evening, Essendon football officials were meeting at the club’s Tullamarine base, where it’s believed the prospect of acquiring Jolly was on the agenda.

Earlier, the club confirmed to AFL.com.au that Jolly attended its new facility on Tuesday.

"The club caught up with him to see where he was at, and we’ll weigh up options ahead of tomorrow’s draft," list manager Adrian Dodoro said.

Channel Seven showed pictures of Jolly leaving the meeting on Tuesday night.

"I’ve got heaps left, not done yet,” Jolly said.

When quizzed on the talks, he wouldn’t elaborate.

"You’d have to go and ask them, it was just for a chat, have a little catch up," he said.

If the Bombers recruit Jolly, it will be as a mature-age rookie.

Jolly had been linked to St Kilda, but it’s understood the Seaford-based club has cooled on the idea.

The 32-year old has played 237 games at three AFL clubs - Melbourne, Sydney Swans and Collingwood.

He played just nine senior games in 2013, in an injury-interrupted season.

Jolly was part of the Swans' 2005 premiership and the Magpies' flag in 2010.
