Gold Coast has named Hunt as part of an extended 25-man squad and the rugby league convert will be named in the 22 when the team is finalised on Friday afternoon.
Hunt has endured a wretched 2014, suffering a broken toe, staph infection, gastro bug and concussion, but he has forced his way in through strong form in the NEAFL.
He had 30 disposals for the Suns' reserves last weekend.
Hunt, 27, said he was now confident of running out a full game.
"I feel ready, as ready as I'll ever be," he said.
"I've had some really good running in my legs the last month.
"I haven't had a game in the AFL for, oh, I can't remember. I missed most of the year last year with hamstring tendinitis and obviously had some bad luck this year.
"No doubt there'll be a feeling out process early in the game but I look forward to the challenge and look forward to playing with the boys again."
The most recent of Hunt's 43 career games was in the final round of 2013 where he had eight disposals and kicked a goal against Greater Western Sydney.
Hunt is off contract at the end of the season and there has been constant speculation that rugby league clubs want to lure him back to his original sport.
But for the moment, the rugged midfielder is worried about taking on the red-hot Swans.
"We know what the Swans are all about. They're a hard team with mature bodies and really thrive on winning that contested footy and using the ball on the outside," he said.
"If we can individually halve our battles, if not win it, I think it'll put us in good stead for a good result on the weekend."
Harley Bennell (corked calf) and Rory Thompson (wrist) were also added to the squad that was beaten by Adelaide, and are also expected to make the final 22.
