THE WESTERN Bulldogs have appointed former Victorian fast bowler Mathew Inness to replace Justin Cordy as fitness boss.
Inness, who will commence the role immediately, has nearly 20 years of experience in elite sport and was previously the Dogs' strength and conditioning coach.
Inness took 281 first class wickets across 10 seasons with Victoria and Western Australia.
"Mathew possesses a breadth of experience in influencing physical and high performance outcomes in elite athletes," Bulldogs football manager Graeme Lowe told the club's website.
"Mathew was a clear choice among some very highly-rated applicants, and we look forward to him driving exceptional outcomes in his specialised function."
The 37-year-old's appointment comes after Cordy announced in July he was quitting the club to become the Gold Coast Suns' high performance manager in 2016.
Bulldogs coach Luke Beveridge believed the Suns "crossed the line" in the way it poached Cordy from Whitten Oval.
It is unknown if Cordy still has any role at the Bulldogs.
