IN 2014, no AFL Fantasy defender averaged more than 100 points. In total across all positions, 28 players averaged the magical ton, proving that selecting reliable defenders in your team is one of the hardest tasks for Fantasy coaches.
To make matters worse, we have lost some of our top defenders from 2014 as they can now be selected only in the midfield.

Due to the lack of points that flow from defenders, sometimes it’s a good strategy not to spend too much money in this area and settle for scores of between 70-80. By doing this you will be saving plenty of money to boost other areas within your team.
After a horrid run of injuries, Brendan Whitecross and Sam Gilbert are cheap options this year. These players have scored well in the past and with some luck they might return to produce some solid scores for a minimal outlay.
