THE WESTERN Bulldogs have appointed St Kilda's chief operating officer Ameet Bains as the club's new CEO.
Bains was officially announced as interim chief executive officer Gary Kent's replacement on Monday.
The former list manager of the Saints, who has a double degree in law and banking/finance, will become the Dogs' fourth CEO in three seasons.
"I am both honoured and humbled to be appointed as the club's CEO," Bains told westernbulldogs.com.au on Monday morning.
"The club is well-positioned given its recent premiership success and accompanying commercial growth.
"I look forward to working with a very talented team in building upon this success."
David Stevenson and former Bulldogs player Simon Garlick both had short-lived stints in the role before Kent, amid speculation of differences with president Peter Gordon.
"We had a broad range of well-credentialled candidates for the position, both from inside the AFL industry and from a range of other professions. I’d like to thank them all for their interest," Bulldogs resident Peter Gordon said.
"We think that Ameet is ideally suited to our club’s next stage of development, with his mix of legal, commercial, projects and football expertise."
Bains will remain at St Kilda until December to oversee the handover of specific off-field projects.
With the Bulldogs making such an important decision on their governance, it leaves Collingwood and Carlton as the only clubs without full-time CEOs.
The Magpies and Blues are currently searching for candidates to replace Gary Pert and Steven Trigg respectively.
