ESSENDON forward Angus Monfries has signed a new two-year deal with the Bombers, and rejected media speculation about disharmony between the players and coach Matthew Knights.

Monfries, 23, has committed to Essendon until the end of 2012, saying that he was confident of future success with the Bombers.

"I think it is an exciting time for the footy club and I am confident in the direction that the club is heading in," he told the Bombers’ official website.

"I am certain that future success isn't far away and that we can win a premierhsip. We have the programs and coaching staff behind the playing group."

South Australian Monfries said he never thought of leaving Windy Hill.

"I am in my sixth year at the footy club and really enjoy playing for a power-house club like Essendon," he said.

"Over my time at the club I've developed great relationships with the players and it has become my home away from home."

Monfries said speculation about the players’ relationship with the coach was wrong.

"I am not sure where these rumours come from because, as a playing group, we are united and believe that we are heading in the right direction," he said.

"I have a good relationship with Knighta and he has the support of the playing group - we believe he can take us forward."
