ST KILDA forward Josh Bruce has re-signed for another four years.
As reported by AFL.com.au in February, Bruce opened contract talks at the end of 2015.
The 23-year-old was due to fall out of contract at the end of this year.
Originally from Canberra, Bruce went to Greater Western Sydney as a zone selection in 2011.
St Kilda traded pick No. 48 for Bruce in 2013, which the Giants did not end up using.
Bruce played much of his early career in defence before moving to the other end of the ground.
The Saint played every game last year and kicked 50 goals, finishing equal 10th in the Coleman Medal race.
Bruce told SEN radio on Thursday morning that it was a "really easy decision" to re-sign, saying he was a "St Kilda person" now.
The former Giant was also excited by what the Saints' young playing group could achieve over the coming years.
"The way to build sustained success is to keep the young group together. You see the likes of Hawthorn and Geelong before that, the guys stick together and they all come through around the same age group, (with) the same amount of games," Bruce said.
"That's how you build a model for sustained success, so it's really exciting."
St Kilda chief operating officer Ameet Bains said the club was thrilled to secure the forward’s services until the end of 2020.
“Josh committing for a further four years is another strong endorsement of the direction the club is heading in,” Bains said.
“At the age 23 and with his performances last year, Josh has quickly become an important and exciting part of our team.
"With Paddy McCartin having also re-committed in the pre-season, we look forward to Josh and Paddy having a long and fruitful partnership up forward for many years to come.”
Bruce, who has kicked five goals from three games this year, plays his 50th game against Hawthorn on Saturday afternoon at Aurora Stadium.
