GREATER Western Sydney star Stephen Coniglio has officially been ruled out of Saturday's Grand Final against Richmond.
Coniglio hasn't played since round 17 when he suffered a serious knee injury in the opening minutes of the loss to Richmond.
He had done everything in his power to prove his fitness in time for Saturday's premiership decider, but ultimately made the tough call to rule himself out.
"This is a selfless decision by Stephen and typical of the man he is." #NeverSurrender

"This is a selfless decision by Stephen and typical of the man he is," general manager of football Wayne Campbell said.
"He left it all on the training track today and ultimately he decided he doesn’t think he is capable of playing out the whole game and therefore didn’t want to let his teammates down.
"His decision has the full support of everyone and we know he’ll continue to support the team to the best of his ability as he has over the past 10 weeks."
The Giants' other major fitness concerns Lachie Whitfield and Phil Davis are expected to be named, while Toby Greene will return from suspension.
Whitfield missed last week's preliminary final win over Collingwood after undergoing surgery to remove his appendix.
"There's still a long way to go in the week but I'm feeling confident," he said.
"I need to get through the captain's run on Friday and a bit more speed, but I'm passing all the tests at the moment. I'm improving significantly every day, it was pretty sore at the start of the week but I’m feeling a lot better now."
However, Campbell was emphatic there's no doubt Whitfield will take to the MCG.
"He’ll play," Campbell told SEN’s Time On on Wednesday.
"He trained today and got through well. So baring any mishaps, he’ll certainly line up on Saturday.
"He might still have a bit of pain but nothing he won’t be able to withstand."
Whitfield declared he's ready for the Tigers if they decide to rough him up a bit.
"It's footy. I'm sure it might happen but I think it'll be fine, the way I'm improving now, pain wise it might be fully right to go by then."
