GEELONG skipper Joel Selwood can jump back into the top three in the Official AFL Player Ratings, brought to you by Vero, if he produces some of his best form when the Cats take on Adelaide at AAMI Stadium on Sunday.

Selwood sits in fourth place on the player ratings ladder, although he is just three points behind Essendon captain Jobe Watson.

With Watson sidelined by a broken collarbone, Selwood should be able to garner enough points this weekend to overtake him.

Selwood was second on the player ratings table in round four, but then slipped to fifth by the middle of the season.

Last time he lined up against the Crows, at Simonds Stadium in round 18 last year, he finished with 26 possessions and six tackles.

A similar performance would power him past Watson.

Collingwood star Scott Pendlebury also has Watson in his sights. Pendlebury heads into round 17 in fifth place on the player ratings table, although he is just eight points behind Watson.

With the Magpies playing Gold Coast at Metricon Stadium, Pendlebury, who picked up a career-high 42 possessions in the win over Adelaide last weekend, is sure to find plenty of the ball once again.

Western Bulldogs midfielder Ryan Griffen, who started the season in 20th place, is now lurking just outside the top 10. His points tally stands at 570, equal with West Coast ruckman Nic Naitainu, who occupies 10th position.

In what has been a disappointing season for the Dogs, Griffen has been the club's standout performer.

He has tallied the most player ratings points in five matches this year (only Gold Coast skipper Gary Ablett has done better in that regard) and has been in the top four on the ground 10 times.
