COLLINGWOOD youngsters Darcy Moore and Jordan De Goey are not about to put a line through finals just yet, confident the Magpies can resuscitate their flailing season.
The 11th placed Magpies have dropped six games in succession but step one of their redemption exercise starts against Carlton at the MCG on Saturday.
"There's a lot on the line for us because, quite simply, we need a good result, because we've had a couple of average weeks," Moore, 19, said at the Westpac Centre on Thursday.
Will Reid come to the Magpies' rescue?
"You can dwell on it (the losing streak), and we're obviously disappointed looking back at the game (last week's loss to Melbourne).
"We didn't really like what we saw, but the reality is we've got another opportunity on Saturday against our old rivals the Blues."
De Goey, also 19, said now was not the time to go ducking for cover.
"When you get on this losing streak it can be easy to duck your head and not have much confidence in yourself but we have that belief back this week," De Goey said.
"It's time to execute. If we can do that I'm sure there's no reason why we can't get the win."
The Pies and the Blues will play off for the Peter Mac Cup at the MCG on Saturday.
Moore and De Goey have made a big impact at Collingwood in 2015.
De Goey has played 12 games for the Pies and performed strongly through the midfield in the absence of Steele Sidebottom and Levi Greenwood earlier in the year.
Moore's breakout game came against the Western Bulldogs in round 17 when he booted five goals in the absence of the injured Travis Cloke.
Set for his fifth game, Moore said he was continuing to build confidence as the main target up forward for the Magpies, although he admitted the likely inclusion of Ben Reid for his first game of the year would take some of the pressure off.
Reid completed the whole of the Magpies' main training session, including contact drills, at the Olympic Park Oval on Thursday morning.
"On a personal level, we've (Moore and Reid) been through a fair bit together this year and in the short time I've been at the club, so I'd love to run out there with him and play on the same line," Moore said.
Despite kicking five majors against the Bulldogs, Moore was shaded by Adelaide defender Jake Lever who earned the round 17 NAB Rising Star nomination that week.
According to De Goey, Moore thought he was unlucky to miss out.
"I reckon he was pretty stiff. He was walking around telling everyone he was hard done by. He didn't stop talking about it," De Goey said with a laugh.
Moore and De Goey were joined by Bailey Delaney, and his brother Kyle, a former patient of the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre at Thursday's press conference.
A passionate Pies fan, Bailey has tipped Moore to kick three goals to power Collingwood to a 20-goal win over their arch-rival.
