We currently have an opportunity for an experienced and driven Assistant Buyer (Product Coordinator) to join our Licensed Buying Team, looking after the AFL category. Reporting into the Buyer (Product Manager), you will work closely with the AFL and our partner AFL clubs to deliver the product assortment required for ShopAFL, numerous club web-stores and several AFL venues. The role has the potential to be based in our Sydney Support Office (Lidcombe) or at the AFL Club House in Melbourne.
Your primary responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
- Manage trade partner relationships with licensed AFL suppliers
- Liaise with our sporting partners (AFL and AFL clubs) to ensure consistency of offering
- Forecast, plan and indent major buys based on sell-through history
- Drive the product creation process to ensure accurate and timely presentation of new stock with internal stakeholders
- Work with Ecommerce Service Coordinators to plan timely marketing of new ranges and pro-active clearance of slow moving stock
- Consistently monitor and report on inventory, ensuring key lines remain available and aged or slow moving inventory is cleared
What skills and experience do I need to become successful?
- Experience in retail buying across multiple brands – management of an open to buy budget
- Sound commercial acumen with a drive and passion to exceed targets
- Familiarity with purchase order creation and stock management software
- Relentless attitude toward achieving bottom line profit and driving margin
- Ability to build strong relationships with trade & sporting partners
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel capability
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal accompanied by a high attention to detail
- Understanding of the sports retail licensing landscape & a general interest in sport
