He may only be four months old but Harry, son of Swans’ Ambassador Tony Squires and wife Kate Pascoe, has already had his first taste of AFL footy.

When Tony was presented with the tiny Swans guernsey from Sydney Swans Chairman Richard Colless at the match against North Melbourne at the SCG, he couldn’t wait to get it home so Harry could try it on for size.

“I’m not sure if Harry knows it, but he’s been to one Swans game for about a quarter and a half. He slept through it though which was probably a good thing because we did lose that game,” Squires said.

“He’s also watched a couple on television, but now that he’s got the Swans gear, he’s got it in the DNA.”

If there is one player that epitomises the ethos of the Sydney Swans Football Club, it is Brett Kirk; a person that Squires has a large amount of respect for.

“I think following the Swans’ kind of culture, it’s not just about how they play but how they are as people and I think Brett Kirk is almost a perfect example of that,” Squires said.

“If Harry is as tough around the football, as committed and as good a person as Kirky is then I’ll be a very happy man.”

Harry has targeted the Swans Round 19 clash with the Hawks at the SCG as his full, four quarter debut.
