The Football Woman of the Year Award recognises women who have made a significant contribution to the game of Australian Rules Football.
The award is open to all women associated with the AFL industry and nominations can be submitted under the Professional or Honorary category allowing for greater recognition of women that are pursuing professional career paths or those who contribute to the industry in an honorary capacity.
To recognise and encourage the positive achievements of young women in the industry an Emerging Leader Award has also been established.
Open to women aged 25 years and younger, this award is to showcase the significant contribution being made by the emerging generation of women to the code of Australian Rules Football.

As per previous years, the Award is presented at the Liptember Grand Final Comedy Debate.
Last year there were over 900 guests who celebrated with our finalists at this event.
This year the event will be held on Thursday 29 September 2016, Crown Palladium, Melbourne at 11.30am.
