PORT Adelaide vice-captain Jacob Surjan has revealed he is still suffering neck soreness from the controversial incident that saw him carried from the field in the last minutes of the Power's round-two clash with West Coast at Subiaco

The incident saw Port Adelaide accused of gamesmanship by trying to delay the match in the crucial final minutes as Surjan was placed on a stretcher and put in a neck brace despite standing upright when it was called.

Play was halted because the stretcher was on the field, and the Power went on to win the match by three points.

Surjan defended his club's actions and said he was still battling neck soreness sustained in the innocuous clash with Eagle Brad Ebert.

"The doctors did the right thing. I've had some neck and shoulder problems over the pre-season and the NAB Cup and [the doctors] knew about that," he said.

"I was a little bit surprised by the [controversy] because I thought the medicos and doctors acted in the best interest of the player, which in this case was me. I think everyone blew it out of proportion, but that's what happens sometimes."
