Brian Harris returns to www.westernbulldogs.com.au for his exclusive <The Life of Brian</b> column!
Hi guys,I know it has been a while but The Life of Brian is back for another edition.Unfortunately this is going to be a pretty short edition because I am currently still on holidays, but I just wanted to check in to let everyone know that I haven’t forgotten about the column!Well it has been a few weeks now since we lost our Semi Final against West Coast over in Subiaco. Obviously everyone was wrapt to have beaten Collingwood in our first Final, but at the same time it was very disappointing to go down the way we did against West Coast. While it’s not like the players are obsessing over the loss, I think the way went left the Finals will keep the guys pretty motivated over pre-season training.Speaking of training, it all gets under way again next week and I know everyone is looking forward to carrying on from this year and making sure 2007 is even better. A few guys, including myself, have already been hard at work training at the Club, which I think gives a good indication for just how competitive it is going to be for spots in the side next season. Everyone is looking to gain that extra edge which I think is a great thing for the team.As there is every season, there have been a few arrivals and departures to the team since the seasons end. For everyone who wasn’t at this year’s Best & Fairest count, Rohan Smith gave a memorable speech as he farewelled his team mates and supports which was pretty emotional. Shane Birss has also left the Club after being traded to St Kilda. I know the entire playing group is sad to see Birssy leave but hopefully he gets an opportunity with the Saints and can really advance his career. We have also had a few new arrivals at the Club, with Jason Akermanis and Andrew McDougall joining the team. Both these guys are obviously very talented and I look forward to welcoming them to the team and seeing what they can do on the field and off.Since the season ended I have made the most of my time off as most of us S.A boys do is go home for a while. It’s a good time to catch up with the family and friends and have a few quiet ales. After attending the Grand final all the family went up to Queensland and spent a week up there taking the kids to all the theme parks, which they loved. Then a group of players went to Sydney for a few days to get some sun and see the sights of Sydney. Might I add most of the sight seeing was inside a pub looking at the bottom of a pot.Well I better get going and enjoy what is left of my holiday. Stay tuned for more The Life of Brian over pre-season and I will keep you updated with who is burning up the track over pre-season.Brian Harris
