TWO YOUNG Sydney supporters have been nominated for the Laureus Best Sporting Moment of 2017, after one of them commentated the round 23 Sydney v Carlton game for his friend who has impaired vision.

Mark Smith (13) was listening to the game on the radio but when it stopped working, his mate Jarryd Haines (12) assumed play-by-play duties so Smith could keep abreast of what was happening, with Lance Franklin booting 10 goals against the Blues on the way to his fourth Coleman Medal.

Smith has lost his sight after suffering brain cancer. 

Sydney invited the pair in for a training session, and the boys met the players and then ran through the banner with them before the Swans faced Essendon in an elimination final.

The award is voted on by fans around the world, looking to "symbolise the true values of sport and bring to life the message that sport has the power to change the world".
