GOLD Coast has re-signed youngsters Jesse Joyce and Josh Schoenfeld, with the pair excited by a new era under coach Stuart Dew.

The duo have extended their contracts until the end of the 2020 season.

Joyce, a graduate of Gold Coast's Academy, has played 28 games in two seasons after being selected with pick No.67 in the 2016 NAB AFL Rookie Draft. 

"I'm rapt to be extending my playing contract with the Suns," Joyce said. 

"As a Gold Coaster to be in the position to play for your home town club is very special, and I'm looking forward to what we can achieve over the next few years." 

Joyce, 20, said Dew's impact had already been felt early in the pre-season.

"A new coach brings new beginnings, and so far Stuey has been fantastic. The feeling around the club has really lifted and I know we are all looking forward to playing under him," Joyce said.

Schoenfeld has played eight matches for the Suns since being taken with selection No.34 in the 2015 national draft. 

Endurance is a key feature of his game, with Schoenfeld holding the Draft Combine record for the 3km time trial (which is no longer run) with a time of 9.15.

Schoenfeld has had the target of adding body mass to his slender frame ahead of the 2018 season.

"Like all the boys 2018 can't come quick enough. I know I had some work to do building my body for the rigours of the game, I've worked hard with our high performance team and development coaches to achieve this and I can’t wait for the season ahead," Schoenfeld said.

"I'm incredibly grateful to the club for extending my contract and that now allows me to focus on my football over the next year or so."

The Suns players will return to training on January 9.
