VERSATILE Greater Western Sydney defender Adam Tomlinson will stay at the Giants, despite speculation he may leave for more senior opportunities.

Tomlinson, 23, is contracted for 2017 but there was a thought that he may return to his home state of Victoria for more game time. However, he played the final 10 games of the season and established himself in the Giants' team after dominant NEAFL form as a midfielder.

His manager Nick Gieschen, of TLA, spoke to NAB AFL Trade Radio on Tuesday. Asked whether Tomlinson would remain a Giant, Gieschen was emphatic: "100 per cent".

Despite being listed at 193cm and being able to play as a tall, Tomlinson's endurance is one of his best attributes. 

"Adam's had a really good end to the season playing down back. Adam's really looking forward to 2017 and hopefully taking another step forward with his footy," Gieschen said.

"With the Giants having such a talented list and a lot of good key position players over the last couple of years, he's been tried in a few different spots. With some of the injuries that occurred this year, he got to settle down back.

"He's extremely happy in Sydney."
