The AFL is pleased to announce the dates and times for Rounds 16 to 23 of the 2023 Toyota AFL Premiership Season.
The next block of the fixture comes off the back of an epic opening nine rounds, which saw a record-breaking 3,047,247 fans attend AFL matches across the country.
Today’s fixture announcement continues the momentum, with a priority of scheduling the best matches in the best timeslots where possible.

The AFL has worked to prioritise Thursday night footy, scheduling an additional three games where minimum five-day breaks permit.
This aggregates to 11 Thursday night games for the season – one more than the 2022 Toyota AFL Home and Away season.
Collingwood will feature in four Friday night blockbusters, taking on the Western Bulldogs (Round 17), Carlton (20), the Geelong Cats (22), and the Brisbane Lions (23).
Port Adelaide will play six prime-time Saturday night and twilight games, playing Essendon (Round 16), Gold Coast SUNS (17), Carlton (18), Collingwood (19), Adelaide Crows (20), and Geelong Cats (21)
Across Round 20-22, all major derbies - including the QClash, The Showdown, Sydney Derby XXVI, and the Western Derby – have been fixtured in prime-time Saturday twilight and night slots.
AFL Executive General Manager Finance, Clubs and Broadcasting Travis Auld said the strong start to the 2023 Toyota AFL Premiership Season has set the competition up for a strong second half of the home and away season.
“After record-breaking crowds and viewership numbers in the first nine rounds, we’re set to launch into the back-half of the season and into the 2023 Toyota AFL Finals Series,” Auld said.
“We’ve listened to fans and fixtured an additional three Thursday night games, taking us to 11 for the year – one more than 2022.
“The season is wide open, with a dozen teams vying for a spot in September.”
Ticketing on-sale dates and information will be communicated in due course.
The fixture for Round 24 will be announced around one month ahead of the games to maximise excitement and the best timeslots for the final round of the season.
