SHARROD Wellingham hasn't considered moving to Melbourne as an option - with the decision down to staying at Collingwood or going home to Western Australia.
As of Tuesday night, the out-of-contract Magpie was with family in Perth weighing up his choices.
In just a few days he'll fly out for America with housemate Lance Franklin and a group of friends, his agent expects the 24-year-old to have made up his mind by then.
"Hopefully this week [Wellingham will decide]. He's in Perth and he's making up his mind with his family," Carlos Da Costa told AFL.com.au on Tuesday night.
Wellingham has had a three-year contract from the Magpies on the table for months, but hasn't been willing to sign.
Da Costa said Fremantle was offering a four-year deal and West Coast three years, denying Freo had gone cool on its proposition despite sources telling AFL.com.au the opposite.
"100 per cent Freo and West Coast are still in the race," Da Costa said.
"The money is nearly all the same, it's not a massive difference."
But Da Costa distanced speculation linking his client to Melbourne.
"Melbourne has never been a discussion point, Sharrod hasn’t even got in front of Melbourne," Da Costa said.
"Winning culture's got to be a big part of it as well."
The Magpies are no doubt facing salary cap pressure after poaching West Coast’s Quinten Lynch, but the club’s football director Geoff Walsh has repeatedly insisted Wellingham is a required player.
Wellingham is not a free agent, meaning any move will have to be part of a trade, or if it came to it he could enter the draft process.
The midfielder made his debut for Collingwood in 2008 and has played 92 games.
He was recruited by the Magpies with pick 10 in the 2006 rookie draft.
