HAWTHORN defender Josh Gibson could find himself on the brink of suspension after an off-the-ball hit on Carlton youngster Blaine Boekhorst at Etihad Stadium on Friday night.
Gibson and Boekhorst had their arms locked in the first quarter when the Hawks star lashed out with a shot to the Blue's stomach, leaving him hunched over on the ground.
The incident is likely to land the dual premiership player in hot water with the Match Review Panel.
It was similar to a striking charge which earned Gibson a $1000 fine when he struck Adelaide small forward Charlie Cameron in round 12.
If Gibson is cited for a second minor incident, he will be just one low-level offence away from a mandatory one-week suspension.
Carlton's Nick Holman will also have a striking report to answer after his late and high hit on Luke Breust in a marking contest in the first term.
Hawks players remonstrated with Holman, while Breust recovered to kick his first goal as the back-to-back premiers romped towards a big half-time lead.
