RICHMOND has confirmed draftee Troy Taylor as the subject of an alleged incident that took place in Alice Springs on New Year's Eve.

The club released a statement on Thursday morning to advise the matter was being investigated by Northern Territory Police.

"The Richmond Football Club takes any allegation of player misbehaviour very seriously," it read.

"Richmond has been in contact with the AFL and has informed it of the club's knowledge of the matter."

Taylor, 18, was selected by the Tigers at pick 51 in November's NAB AFL Draft after some solid performances as a forward for NT Thunder in the under-18 championships.

Growing up in Darwin, he moved to Alice Springs at the start of 2009 and played club football for both South Kangaroos and Wanderers.
