WEST Coast's woeful recent record against Fremantle does not worry the Eagles ahead of 2015's first Western Derby, skipper Shannon Hurn says.
The Dockers have won the past five Derbies and have won 14 of the past 18 overall.
West Coast's last win against Fremantle came in round nine, 2012, which was the most recent time the Eagles played finals.
"It doesn't frustrate us," Hurn said of the Eagles' lopsided recent record against their WA rivals.
"We go out to win every game regardless of who it is.
"Freo have been a good side the past few years, and we haven't been able to match it with them the whole game."
Hurn watched parts of the Dockers' dismantling of Geelong at Simonds Stadium on Sunday and it left him under no illusions as to the challenge the Eagles faced this weekend.
"It's just going to be a great challenge," he said.
"They played well (on Sunday). Their best players play well, that's why they're such a good side.
"I think we can handle that."
Hurn believes the Eagles are better equipped to handle the Dockers' immense pressure this year than they have been over the past two seasons.
"I just think over the years (our) players have matured more," Hurn said.
"(The) pre-season has been quite good.
"We understand about the game. It's been about contested ball, how you use it, decision-making. Every team does that. We've been fortunate to play against the Western Bulldogs, and Carlton was pretty good there for a period."
The Eagles still have injury troubles to contend with. As well as being stretched in defence by loss of Eric Mackenzie and Mitch Brown, key forward Jack Darling remains a concern. He still appears at least three to four weeks away from playing as he recovers from a foot stress fracture.
Darling did some leading, marking and goalkicking away from the main group at the Eagles' light skills session on Monday. His movement was at a higher intensity than it was a fortnight ago when he did similar training during an open session.
Scott Selwood's lingering ankle problem also has him in doubt for the Derby. The Eagles' vice-captain was withdrawn from the clash with Carlton due to soreness in his troublesome ankle, albeit in a different area to what he had surgically repaired last year.
"His ankle was just a bit sore," Hurn said.
"He'll be monitored this week. Hopefully he'll get up. If not, hopefully he's only a couple of weeks after that."
Youngster Simon Tunbridge also injured his ankle after an impressive three-quarter showing against the Blues. He was subbed out just before three-quarter-time last Friday night and is in doubt to recover in time for this week.
"I don't think it's great," Hurn said. "I think it's just going to be a rolled ankle, hopefully."
Both Selwood and Tunbridge were absent from the track on Monday. Xavier Ellis also walked laps as he continues to recover from a hamstring injury he suffered on March 8.
Sam Butler moved freely with the main group during the light session after missing the win over Carlton with an adductor complaint.
