THEY'RE a happy team at North Melbourne, with trade week rifts now all squared away.

The Roos had a couple of nasty situations going during the annual (non) swapfest, with tall Hamish McIntosh thrown up by the club in a shock move, and Daniel Harris asking to be traded away after a tense season with coach Dean Laidley.

But neither deal happened, and both players say they're happy to remain in the blue-and-white.

Harris, who has played 139 games for the club, has admitted the series of events was what he needed to get his career back on track, although he was understandably reticent about the actual details of his discussions with the coach.

"He rang me straight after trade week and we had a good long chat," Harris was quoted as saying in Melbourne's Herald Sun on Monday.

"I suppose what has happened is between Dean and I ... but the good thing is it's made us sit down and communicate more.

"We've had a few meetings now and everything is out on the table.

"I know what he expects of me and, right now, it's probably the best the relationship has been between me and Dean. Going forward, I think it can only get better.

"It just came down to me performing and I wasn't performing to the standard I should have been. We just want to put this behind us now.

"I think what it has done is open my eyes a bit.

"I probably needed a bit of a shake-up and that's what it has done.

"The other thing I realised is North was probably the keenest club to keep me. In that respect, I feel that I owe a bit back to the club. Being 26 years of age, it's time for me to really take it up a level."
