Des Headland has earned a Round Six nomination for the 2007 AFL Toyota Goal of the Year.

Headland’s remarkable left foot check-side goal on the run in the second term of Fremantle’s clash against Brisbane earned the 26 year old the honour.

With Fremantle trailing by seven points early in the second quarter, Headland recovered the ball deep in the left forward pocket and, with the assistance of a strong shepherd from Chris Tarrant, found space to curl the ball through the middle of the goals from a near impossible angle to reduce the deficit to one point.
