Jonathan Brown skittles the Hawks
RETIRING this week as one of the most decorated modern footballers, Jonathan Brown was anything but retiring in 2002 when he faced the Hawks. Running back with the flight of the ball in round 17, Brown at no stage looked at his opponent or anything other than the Sherrin. He was particularly unconcerned by Alastair Lynch and Jade Rawlings moving swiftly into his path. The inevitably brutal collision left Rawlings sprawled on the turf, the ball safely nestled in Brown's hands and the argument over who deserved the award for Mark of the Year settled.Hover your mouse to pause the gif and scroll forwards or backwards
Nick Riewoldt soars in Sydney
Nick Riewoldt is no stranger to brave marks, but he's unlikely to top this famous effort against the Swans in 2004. Like Brown, the champion Saint never diverts his eyes from the ball as Tadhg Kennelly rushes the other way and takes a superb grab while also collecting teammate Stephen Milne in the head. It was trumped for Mark of the Year by Ashley Sampi's stunning leap against Melbourne at the MCG but for sheer courage, there have been few better.Hover your mouse to pause the gif and scroll forwards or backwards
