The AFL wishes to congratulate Trent Cotchin ahead of his 300th game this round, against St Kilda at the MCG on Saturday night.

Cotchin is set to become the 102nd VFL/AFL player to reach 300 games.

He was drafted to Richmond with the second selection in the 2007 AFL National Draft from Penleigh and Essendon Grammar. Cotchin made his debut in Round Eight in 2008 against the Geelong Cats.

Since debuting, Cotchin is the first triple-premiership Captain in club history and the eight overall in VFL/AFL history. Cotchin is a Brownlow medallist, All Australian and triple Jack Dyer medallist. 

AFL Acting CEO Andrew Dillon congratulated Trent on behalf of the AFL.

"Congratulations Trent on the achievement in becoming the sixth Richmond player in the club's history to reach 300 games.

"Trent was the primary driver of change at the club that saw Richmond return to being an on field power, culminating in 2017, 2019 and 2020 premierships.

"You've been a wonderful ambassador for the game and good luck for your milestone and the remainder of the 2023 season."

• The sixth person to play 300 games for Richmond joining Jack Dyer, Kevin Bartlett, Francis Bourke, Jack Riewoldt & Shane Edwards.
• Cotchin and teammate Jack Riewoldt have played 285 games together - the seventh most for any pair in VFL/AFL history and are currently four games behind Richmond pair Kevin Bartlett and Francis Bourke (fellow AFL Life Members)

• Won his first 16 games vs Brisbane, the first player to have had a 16-0 vs any team since Chris Langford v Richmond in 1994.  His record vs Brisbane now stands at 18-2
• One of eight VFL/AFL players to win three or more premierships as captain and the only Tiger to do so.
