PORT Adelaide has added three players to its leadership group for 2014, with Angus Monfries, Matthew Lobbe and Tom Jonas all elevated into the eight-man collective.
The trio joined last year's leaders Travis Boak, Brad Ebert, Hamish Hartlett, Robbie Gray and Jackson Trengove.
Veteran forward Jay Schulz was the only player from 2013's leadership group to be omitted.
Hinkley said the bolstered leadership group consisted of players destined to take the club forward.
“They are people who want to take the club in the right direction and help Travis, Brad and the other leaders make sure we continue on the right path," Hinkley said.
“What they’ve been able to do, not purely just on the football ground but around the club and at training as well, is demonstrate great, young leadership.
While Schulz was left out of the group, Hinkley said senior players would continue to fill vital mentoring roles.
Port has one of the youngest lists in the AFL but also possesses a wealth of experience in players like Kane Cornes, Dom Cassisi and Schulz.
Hinkley said such players would act as crucial behind-the-scenes mentors for the current leaders.
“I think we certainly have some great older players who will continue to act as mentors to that young group like Dom Cassisi, Kane Cornes, Jay Schulz, Justin Westhoff and Tommy Logan who understand the importance of developing young leaders,” he said.
