Last week, Hawthorn President Jeff Kennett posted an article in search for the elusive Hawks supporter running alongside Lance Armstrong during the Tour de France.

The supporter has since contacted the Club, and while he has been a Member for the past few years he did not sign-up for 2010- meaning he is eligible to win a prize of $2,500.

Here is what he had to say:

Dear Hawthorn,

The Tour was an amazing experience for me and having the opportunity to wave the banner for the Hawks on an international level was unreal.  A couple of mates and I drove into the Pyrenees and followed three stages of the Tour, to see blokes riding at that level in such a pituresque environment was awe-inspiring.

Building up to the riders' climb (and my run) was great, everyone was buzzing and I was already getting noticed for wearing my jumper.  I shared some friendly niggle with a Cats supporter and got a lot of questions about the season to date.

One guy from the States came up and asked me if my jumper was from a Tassie team, telling me how beautiful it was and how he planned to visit there.  I had to explain to him that they we're actually a Melbourne Club but Tasmania was like a home away from home for the Hawks.

Running alongside Lance and the leaders of the Tour de France proudly wearing my guernsey was a rush, and such an honour given my absolute passion for the Club.

While my friends took Aussie flags, it was a no-brainer for me to wear the guernsey as I love the Hawks and want to spread Hawthorn worldwide.

I guess being spotted out while acting like a goose on telly is just one of the perks of supporting such a great Club.

Go Hawks!
John Peck

The $5000 is still up for grabs!

In case you missed it- Hawthorn Football Club will offer $2,500 for a Hawthorn supporter, or $5,000 for a Hawthorn member who is published in a newspaper or magazine or appears on TV wearing a Hawthorn guernsey, with the Tasmanian logo clearly visable.

The winning photo submitted to the Club will have been taken in the most high-profile and extraordinary setting outside Australia.

If you have a photo you think will make the cut, email the Club.
