GEELONG midfielder Josh Caddy ison the verge of a senior recall after a best on ground performance against PortMelbourne in the VFL on Saturday.
The former Gold Coast youngster racked up 24 disposals and kicked a goal for the Cats in the 2012 Grand Final rematch.
Caddy has played just six seniorgames this year, having been hampered by a quad issue and a concussion.
He is ranked as the Cats' 10th best midfielder in the Official AFL Player Ratings, brought to you by Vero, but he has hit top form in the VFL inrecent weeks, and hopes that's enough to break back into the AFL.
"Obviously I'd love to beplaying in the ones, and would rather be playing AFL footy, but it's great tocome back to the VFL and play with the young guys on the AFL list, and also thetop-ups, as they're called," Caddy said on Saturday.
Geelong VFL coach Matthew Knightsbelieves Caddy has done enough to earn a senior recall.
"His last two games havebeen AFL elite standard," he said.
"He's played at such a highlevel that his next AFL opportunity is certainly not too far away.
"He's in such a good placenow to launch into the second half of the year. He's got some continuity in hisfooty, he's fit and hard, he's training very well and his last two performanceshave been superb.
"I don't plan to be coachinghim too much longer."
Breaking into the AFL side has proveda difficult task, and Caddy admits it has been frustrating.
"I knew that when I camedown here that it was going to be the case," he said.
"I suppose I haven't had agreat first half of the year in the AFL, with injuries and things like that aswell.
"It's frustrating, but atthe same time I'm loving my time here. I don't regret it at all. It's great tobe part of such a great club."
