The AFL wishes to advise the Match Review Panel has reviewed the matches played in round nine of the 2017 Toyota AFL Premiership Season.
The following charges were laid:
Kurt Tippett, Sydney Swans, has been charged with striking Jarryn Geary, St Kilda, during the first quarter of the Round Nine match between the Sydney Swans and St Kilda, played at Etihad Stadium on Saturday May 20, 2017.

Other incidents assessed
Contact between the Geelong Cats’ Joel Selwood and the Western Bulldogs’ Tom Boyd from the third quarter of Friday’s match was assessed. Boyd is seeking to contest the ball when Selwood makes high contact to the Western Bulldogs’ player. A free kick was paid at the time for the high contact. It was the view of the panel the force used was below that required for a reportable offence. No further action was taken.
Contact between the Sydney Swans’ Callum Mills and St Kilda’s Jack Newnes from the first quarter of Saturday’s match was assessed. The ball is loose with both players coming to the contest from opposite directions. Both players turn to the side to brace for contact as they contest the ball. It was the view of the panel that Mills was contesting the ball and had no realistic alternative way to contest the ball. No further action was taken.
