FREMANTLE has dropped promising first-year players Brennan Cox and Luke Ryan for drinking alcohol after the Western Derby last Sunday.
Cox and Ryan failed to meet team standards with only a six-day break leading into Saturday night's home clash with Hawthorn.
It is the second time in a month the Dockers have cracked down on standards after emerging star Connor Blakely was suspended for leaving the club early due to illness and later going for a surf.
"Brennan and Luke are good young men who are very much a part of the long-term future of the club," general manager football operations Chris Bond said.
"The players have set and agreed to standards, which all of our players are required to adhere to. However, on this occasion that was not the case.
"As a result, Brennan and Luke were not selected in the team to play Hawthorn on Saturday."
Losing Cox's aerial ability in attack is a blow for Freo – which booted 5.14 in the derby - although spearhead Cam McCarthy returns from a two-week suspension.
Josh Deluca has also been called up to replace half-back flanker Ryan, who has played six games this season after being plucked as a mature-age recruit from VFL club Coburg last year.
Cox has played five games after being taken with pick 41 in last year's NAB AFL Draft.
The Dockers have overlooked tall forward Matt Taberner for the Hawks clash despite the big man booting 11 goals in his past two WAFL games.
Taberner, key defender Sam Collins and utility Cam Sutcliffe have been named emergencies.
