WITH the bye rounds a distant memory, it was finally back to business as usual… or so we thought. Then a host of big names were omitted on Thursday night and Friday leaving many coaches scrambling just to field a team. The end result was reminiscent of the previous three weeks with bench players once again finding themselves on the ground, churning out heart wrenching 40s. Fortunately, many of the stars that did hit the field scored well… unless of course they were injured or tagged for the first time in their career.

Jack Macrae has been solid, without being outstanding until repaying the faith of his coaches with a round high 137 against the Roos, highlighted by seven marks and 10 tackles. It was great to see him back to his best, roaming the field for 32 possessions.

Honourable mention: Patrick Dangerfield looked like he was just having an average day, sitting deep in the forward line during the last quarter for what looked like a score around 110. That is until the game was on the line and he dug deep late, carrying the Cats to victory and lifting his score to 134. Danger kicked three behinds, so wasn't far off a thumper.

Rage trades 

Heath Shaw… What can I say? In a milestone game against the Lions, the writing was on the wall that Shaw would be in line for a good score. Instead, he reminded us why he is affectionately known as Headache Heath in Fantasy circles after scoring 29 from nine possessions and just one mark. He may have to be traded out permanently after this effort.

Honourable mention: Dayne Zorko went from hero to villain this week as the dynamic onballer was faced with a very hard tag. Due to this, his stat line was uncharacteristic and well short of the huge numbers we have become accustomed to this year after collecting just five possessions (all in the first half) and thankfully laying nine tackles to get his score to 45. He is a little champ, so will bounce back but it was a frustrating one for coaches who traded him in this week.

Hats off to Hugh Greenwood for getting his coaches off to an awesome start with 122 on Thursday night, but as far as downgrades go, Sean Darcy had a great game in the ruck with a whopping 40 hit-outs and 14 possessions on his way to an impressive 80.
