Victoria Metro and Brisbane Lions Academy claimed title wins at the 2023 AFL National Development Championships – U16 Boys.

Victoria Metro took out the Pool A title by winning two of its three matches in the round-robin series. Western Australia also finished with a 2-1 record, with the title awarded to Victoria Metro after defeating Western Australia in their head-to-head clash during Round 2 of the Championships.

South Australia and Victoria Country both finished with a 1-2 record.

Brisbane Lions Academy claimed the Pool B title, emulating the efforts of the Lions’ girls team who claimed the 2023 AFL National Development Championships – U16 Girls Pool B title earlier this year.

The Lions won all three matches to finish four points ahead of GWS Giants Academy and Gold Coast Suns Academy. Tasmania and Sydney Swans each won one match, with the Northern Territory rounding out the standings.

The panel also selected the 2023 AFL National Development Championships – U16 Boys All-Australian Team.

The All-Australian team features players from all ten teams, with each team MVP winner earning selection in the side. Dyson Sharp was selected in the team for the second-successive year, after last year being selected as a bottom-age player.
