Speaking after Greater Western Sydney's honourable defeat to Collingwood at the MCG on Saturday, Sheedy volunteered his strong opposition to supplements when asked about Evans.
"It really is very frustrating to see that one of your most important coaches has got to be a pharmaceutical coach," he told reporters.
"Give me a break. You're kidding yourselves. Get rid of them, get them out of the game and hunt them down. Might have to get some pest control."
Asked whether his comments were serious or in jest, Sheedy didn’t back down.
"Why would you need pharmacists?" he said. "Australian people won’t cop that, and you know they won’t. And I don’t believe it should be done.
"And I think (AFL CEO) Andrew Demetriou, no matter what, even injecting supplements – I don't even agree with that.
"I think it’s great that Essendon put it on the table, and I'll continually say that because you don’t know who's shafting who here. Get on with it. Let the truth come out, as 'Hirdy' (Essendon coach James Hird) would say."
Sheedy, who spent 27 years as coach at Essendon, was full of praise for Evans.
"He's gone through an enormous amount to try and keep that ship steering out there," he said.
"On behalf of people that know him, we all know that he's been a fantastic person for Essendon, to take it through from a club that was lost to a chance in the finals, and work through what would be a very disappointing time in general and sport in Australia."
