GOLD Coast's spluttering season has received a timely boost, with Gary Ablett to play on Saturday after missing the Suns' loss to Melbourne at the weekend.
Ablett failed a fitness test for a shoulder injury last week, missing Saturday's 35-point defeat to the Demons.
Midfield coach Dean Solomon said the two-time Brownlow medallist will be right to line up against West Coast at Metricon Stadium.
"Gaz looks really good," Solomon said on Monday.
"The way he's carrying himself and is walking around, he looks fine, so he's set to go."
Ablett first copped a knock to the right shoulder – the opposite to the one he has twice had surgery on – against Geelong in round seven and aggravated it against Port Adelaide eight days later.
The former skipper will be one of what could be several changes for the Suns, who will seek ways to reverse their fortunes after a second successive poor showing.
Jack Bowes (illness) is likely to return against the Eagles, while Matt Rosa (concussion) could also come into contention.
Gold Coast had a lengthy review on Monday following the heavy fade-out against Melbourne, where they conceded 14 of the last 18 goals of the game.
"It was pretty clear in and around the contest we were quite poor from the 10-minute mark of the third quarter to the final siren. It is unacceptable," Solomon said.
"There's no doubt there's some players there that aren't meeting the benchmark at the moment, so they put themselves in a vulnerable position.
"There's pressure on spots, because when you perform like that, you have to make some sort of change."
