GREATER Western Sydney star Steve Johnson might not play again until round 16 after succumbing to a nagging foot problem.
Giants coach Leon Cameron said after his side's 42-point win over the Sydney Swans on Sunday night that Johnson had been carrying the foot issue for weeks, and hinted that the veteran could be rested.
It's been confirmed that the three-time premiership Cat is set to miss 1-2 weeks to rest the injury.
The Giants play Essendon at Etihad Stadium on Sunday, then take on Carlton at home in round 14, before having the week off for their mid-season bye, so Johnson's next appearance could be on July 9th against Collingwood at Spotless Stadium.
The 2007 Norm Smith medallist had 27 possessions and kicked 2.3 against the Swans, but Cameron said post-match that his gun forward has been battling to get up for games over the past month.
"He was terrific in such a big game but he's an old warrior, just a competitive man," Cameron said.
"We probably should have rested him a few of weeks ago, and I was disappointed I didn't make that decision."
Johnson's influence at the Giants this season has been immense, with the 32-year-old recruit kicking 24 goals and averaging almost 20 possessions in his 12 games.
