YOUNG forward Trent Dennis-Lane has starred in the Sydney Swans' intra-club game on Friday, kicking seven goals in just an hour's football.

In his second AFL pre-season, Dennis-Lane is the only Swans player who has not missed a session since November and his work paid off with a stellar showing.

"That was one of my goals [to not miss a session] for this pre-season so I'm really pleased to have ticked that off," Dennis-Lane told sydneyswans.com.au.

"It was a great experience playing in the finals last year.

"I had one good game, but I wasn't so pleased with the game against the Bulldogs, so I've analysed all of that to see what I did well and what I did wrong, and tried to learn from it."

While coach John Longmire was impressed by Dennis-Lane, he was quick to put the performance in perspective.

"In general it's a bit hard to get too carried away," he said.

"I thought his pressure was pretty good today, so I think from that side of it, it was a good game.

"To be fair, early on he was only on a young kid who was just feeling his way as well. Trent's a smart forward and he'll make the most of those opportunities when they come his way."

The youngster was the talk of the Swans' pre-season last year when he kicked five goals in an intra-club match, and he has bulked up this season.

"Another goal was to get stronger, and I've done a number of PBs in the gym, and put on about three or four kilograms - of muscle hopefully," Dennis-Lane said.

Teammate Jed Lamb, the Swans' first-round pick in the 2010 NAB AFL Draft showed real composure in front of goal, evading a couple of tackles before snapping the first goal of the match.

Another new face, Luke Parker, impressed coaches with a solid showing including a goal, while veterans Adam Goodes and Jarrad McVeigh also stood out.

Thirty players from the Swans list took part in the hit-out with a number of scholarship and local Sydney players making up the rest of the teams.

Notable absentees were last year's NAB Rising Star Dan Hannebery and midfielder Kieren Jack, but coach John Longmire said they were likely to line up in round one of the NAB Cup on Saturday week.
